The Summer Moreland Photography Competition is now in it’s second year.
A photography competition and exhibition inviting primary and highschool students from across Melbourne to submit photographs that evoke summer.
The exhibition will be held at Blak Dot Gallery, 413 Lygon Street, Brunswick East from March 1st to March 4th. Prize announcements will take place on Saturday March 3rd at 2pm.
The competition was set up by a professional photographer to create an opportunity for students to compete with their peers. There are many competitions out there that are open to all age groups but few where amateurs are not competing against industry professionals. This competition allows students with a passion for photography to have their work acknowledged and rewarded. The competition is open to all primary and secondary school students across Melbourne and students are judged within their age category. There are four age groups, 5-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-17.
Prizes have been donated by Vanbar photographics, Brunswick Bound, Deans Art, Melbourne Zoos, Taco Truck, Avant Carde, Melbourne Writers Festival, Centre for Adult Education, Treadlie Magazine, cgphotography and Books at Manic. The prizes range from gift vouchers to product hampers and for the older teens experiences like accompanying a professional photographer on a photo shoot, taking part in a photography workshop, or doing a city photo walk with CAE.
