Since 2011, Blak Dot Gallery has been a bold, sovereign, and ever-evolving space for contemporary First Nations art. As a First Peoples-led, artist-run initiative, we nurture emerging talent, celebrate established voices, and honour Indigenous ways of knowing through exhibitions, residencies, and public programs.

Thanks to our community’s support, we’ve spent over a decade building a culturally safe, respectful, and sustainable arts space rooted in sovereignty, reciprocity, and respect.

In April 2025, we’ve moved into our new home at Balam Balam Place in Brunswick - an exciting new chapter.

But bricks and mortar are only part of the story.

As a not-for-profit, we rely on the support of our community - including generous donors and volunteers - to ensure Blak Dot remains a thriving, living art space. One that grows alongside the community it serves, and where both emerging and established artists feel their work is not only seen, but truly held.

To bring the new space to life, and to a high standard our artists and audiences deserve, we need your help to fit out the gallery with essential, adaptable, and accessible infrastructure and to support programs that fuel artist development, residencies, and community events this will helps us continue supporting First Nations artists and filling the gallery with powerful works.
