Hosted by Wantok Musik
Farhad Bandesh is a talented Kurdish visual artist, musician and instrument maker. Farhad is a refugee and has been imprisoned on Manus Island for nearly 6 years by the Australian government.
This is the first ever screening of the music video of his song ‘The Big Exhale’ - a cross-continental collaboration with Jenell Quinsee, David Bridie, Melbourne City Ballet, Bilal Zeine and Wendyhouse films.
The Big Exhale is written by Jenell Quinsee and Farhad Bandesh. It is about the desire to be free, free of fences and cages.
This event will also feature an exhibition of Farhad Bandesh’s art.
We will be fundraising by selling artwork and t-shirts with Farhad’s designs, raffles and donations - with all money raised going directly to the artist.
Please not this is a one off event! 6pm to 8pm.
Event proudly supported by Blak Dot Gallery
This event is being held on the land of the Wurundjeri people, of the Kulin Nation and we pay our respects.
