OUR HOME AT 33 SAXON STREET WILL BE ENTERING A NEW PHASE IN 2024
Blak Dot Gallery and Siteworks are excited to announce the redevelopment of our site in 2024.
Merri-bek is building a new state-of-the-art cultural and community hub in Bulleke bek(Brunswick), the site will soon be transformed into a facility that will give back to Bulleke bek for generations to come.
Leading First Nations contemporary art gallery Blak Dot will be getting a brand-new gallery space at the heart of the new site.
By 2024, you will be able to enjoy not only the new gallery but:
✨ A significant new public open space, which will host a multitude of outdoor events
✨ Affordable multipurpose community rooms and commercial office space for the creative industries
✨A new community-focused facility for Maternal and Child Health services
✨ Affordable studio and exhibition spaces for creatives
✨ A hospitality offer
✨ Better connections with the Brunswick Baths
Council approved the concept design last year, and a planning permit was lodged in March 2022. Construction is planned to begin at the beginning of 2024.
Blak Dot will continue to operate in Merri-bek City Council for community members and continue to deliver workshop programs and events throughout 2024. We look forward to growing our community spaces into the future when we open our (new and deadly) doors in 2025!
