Melbourne Art Fair - Blak Dot Gallery - Project Room

The Project Rooms returns to Melbourne Art Fair in 2018 as a non-profit platform for cutting edge art spaces presenting experimental work within the context of a major visual arts event.

Throughout 2018 Blak Dot Gallery hosts an all-female solo show roster with exhibitions by Melbourne based artists: Kirsten Lyttle who is of Māori descent, Lisa Hilli who was born in Raboul - PNG, and New Zealand-born Tongan woman Frances Tapueluelu. The Blak Dot Gallery Project Room at Melbourne Art Fair will bring together the work of these artists with the addition of local Aboriginal artists Vicki Couzens and Gina Bundle. All five women explore their own traditional cultural and often matriarchal influences or issues to create discourse and examine identity. That these artists are all woman, offers an opportunity to create an empowered and empowering space for both the artists and the viewer.

This year, Project Rooms, presented by Four Pillars and supported by Melbourne Art Foundation, features presentations including; Ryan Presley, ProsperityInstitute of Modern Art (Brisbane); Ayesha Green and Cushla Donaldson, (Un)conditional III, The Physics Room (Christchurch)Anxious Bodies for Unstable Environments; Gertrude Contemporary (Melbourne) and Native HandsBlak Dot Gallery (Melbourne).
