Stick Together: make, play, share!

  • Blak Dot Gallery 33 Saxon Street Brunswick, VIC, 3056 Australia (map)

This Saturday, Grained exhibiting artist, Aisyah Kirana Fariansyah opens the exhibitions’ public program with this open, hands-on workshop.

Aisyah invites everyone to slow down, make together, and explore care through rice glue. The workshop begins with the collective making of rice glue, using cooked leftover rice and warm water, followed by open time to draw, write, tear, fold, and craft. Everyone may respond to gentle prompts or follow their own creativity, with no pressure on outcome <3

Through shared making and conversation, the workshop reflects on everyday materials, food, labour, connection, and love. Everyone is invited to place their works on the 'offering wall', take them home, or gift them to someone else. Open to everyone and very kid-friendly, the workshop invites creativity, mess, and care, making space for collective reflection and storytelling.

Lem Nasi Cinta (A Lovely Rice Glue), 2026

Aisyah Kirana Fariansyah

Lem Nasi Cinta (A Lovely Rice Glue) come from simple memories of my childhood. This work carries those memories forward by using leftover rice to create glue as a quiet expression of gratitude, a way of giving back to the rice and the universe. Using leftover rice, the glue becomes a simple way to express what we receive every day: food, soil, rain, labour - made through our hands, time, and care.
