///\\\ OPENING EVENT///\\\

Saturday 4 october, 2pm

Exhibition dates: 4 - 26 October 2025

Jasmin Seale’s moa fleiva remakes the Australian lounge room as a site of cultural presence and play. By re-dubbing 2000s television shows in Tok Pisin, Seale disrupts the comfort of nostalgia and reframes the familiar. Her work shifts who belongs on screen, placing Papua New Guinean voices where they have long been absent. With humour and irony, moa fleiva reveals how everyday entertainment can be unsettled to tell new stories of belonging and presence. It asks audiences to listen differently, showing that even the most ordinary pop-cultural moments can carry new meanings when language, memory, and visibility are reimagined. In doing so, Seale opens a space where popular culture becomes both archive and stage for community visibility.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jasmin Seale is an artist based in Naarm, working across video, print, and installation to explore themes of documentation. Her practice examines the individual as collector, the tension between purpose and obsession, and the DIY forms of archiving born from the urge to hold onto what might be lost. She recently completed a Master of Fine Art at RMIT University and holds a Bachelor of Design from Swinburne University of Technology.
