What can a piece of jewellery carry?

Bringing together our wāhine artists of Bagurrk Murrup – Kotahitanga, this kōrero looks at jewellery and adornment as ways of holding stories, connections to Country and whenua, memory and resistance.

Across Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa and beyond, Indigenous women have carried knowledge through making — holding stories, materials, techniques and ways of seeing, while also finding new ways to speak, create and imagine.

The artists will share how Indigenous knowledge moves through their practices – what they carry from those who came before, what is being renewed and transformed now, and what might be carried forward to those coming after.

Join us for a yarn between artists about adornment, making and the things we choose to carry with us.
